Hi, it's mal! I'm an Ames, Iowa based wedding photographer. A while back, I had the honor of capturing a beautiful engagement at Ada Hayden park in Ames. It was a perfect fall evening with a slight chill in the air, and the sun was just the right shade of gold peaking through.
Jonah reached out and knew he wanted to make this moment so special for Madison, so we got to work planning it out! I decided to bring along a few neutral props: a blanket, some lanterns and candles, pillows, etc. They brought their sweet puppy along (which is always a huge YES for me!), so we started off with a few photos of all of them. After a while, I had them pose facing away from each other and Jonah got down on one knee. When Madison turned around, her jaw dropped and she instantly walked over to hug him!
It was the absolute sweetest moment to witness. Photographing engagements will always be one of my favorite things. For the rest of the session, they danced around, laughed, embraced, and soaked in the moment. Personally, I just love movment based poses and capturing real emotion as it's happening. Their photos are filled with real laughs and so much joy, and that's what it's all about!
